GSCA Year in Review

On behalf of GSCA, thank you to our GES families, teachers, staff and Grassland community for a wonderful school year! Your participation, volunteer hours and financial support have made our accomplishments possible. You volunteered and participated at special events, classroom parties and staff appreciation luncheons. Because of you, GSCA was able to collect box tops, baked goods, auction donations and community service items. A special thanks to our Room Parents and Committee Chairs, who have been instrumental to our success in these endeavors. Their leadership and commitment to GES is much appreciated.

While it is easy to see GSCA in action, it may be difficult to see the day-to-day impact on GES and our children. Through the generosity of our Grassland Gives Campaign, GES families and community business partners, GSCA is able to provide funding for initiatives that directly benefit our children. These would NOT otherwise be provided by Williamson County Schools. GSCA has a strong track record of providing a variety of educational materials for our students and professional development for our teachers each year. Because of your donations, we were able to provide our students and teachers with a C.O.W. (computers on wheels), which consists of 30 laptops, headphones and a rolling cart; two new staff laptops; a poster printer; a new school-wide reading program; a library wall mural; music department stage/audio improvements; and a new Playground Equipment Fund.

Some other items and events provided by your donations this year include: GES/GMS Hillsboro Road Marquee; Eagle’s Nest prizes throughout the year; Back to School Teacher Luncheon; Artist-in-Residence; cultural arts events for the students; School Sponsored GES Clubs; Destination Imagination; and a Bus Driver Appreciation Breakfast.

It has been a privilege to serve GES. Planning is already underway for the 2017/2018 School Year. The 2016-2017 GSCA Board extends its sincere thanks to the families, teachers and staff who make GES great!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Smith

2016/2017 GSCA President

5th Grade Recognition

On Friday, May 19, Grassland Elementary bid farewell to its 2017 5th Grade Class during the annual 5th Grade Recognition Ceremony. The morning started with a touching slideshow sharing photos of the students throughout their years at GES and concluded with 107 students receiving certificates of recognition from the 5th grade teachers and administration. This year the 5th Grade Picnic was held the day before the ceremony on Thursday, May 18, at Grassland Park and allowed the 5th graders time to spend celebrating together with the help of DJ Louie and Kona Ice. Good luck to our 5th Graders as they enter middle school!

Thank you to our 5th Grade Recognition Committee Chairs; Kathy McGee, Kelley Godfrey, Laurie Winston, and their many volunteers that made this a memorable event.

Talent Show

Congratulations to all of our students who participated in Lights! Camera! Thank you to our Talent Show Committee Chairs, Tamara Horne and Lana Paavola, for all their hard work preparing and organizing our Talent Showcase and Lights! Camera! Grassland! events.
